Stonyfield Farm has a certain Charm...

Not all yogurts are created equal.  Some are low calorie, low fat, low carb, some claim to be the key to 'regularity' or your money back and some are just truly delicious.  One such brand is Stonyfield Farm.  I've yet to meet a Stonyfield product I don't love.  The milk is a staple in my house as are the YoBaby yogurts and smoothies and now I'm a total convert to the adult version too.

In the name of all that's holy in the Gelatosphere I took it upon myself to taste test the 'New Item' at Publix.

Organic Thai Turkey Burgers

Ok Ok, I'm going a little overboard with the organic ground turkey breast; I accept that, however, it is great stuff.  A little goes a long way and its a low fat, high protein way to feed your family 'regular' dishes without them questioning you about 'what's different'?

Even the bun, salad & tomatoes are organic!

Pick of the Day

As a special treat for us this week, Publix are running a three day sale, Monday to Wednesday.  There are a few bargains here that are far too good to pass up.  Allow me to elucidate:

Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts 1.99lb, this price beats Costco hands down so take advantage and fill the freezer, you can't go wrong with this simple staple.

La Famiglia DelGrosso Pasta Sauce BOGO $7.99.  Yes, this is one of the high end sauces on the market and even at BOGO its more pricey than your standard sauce BUT it is a phenomenal product.  It has that authentic, long, slow cooked taste and, for me, is worth every penny especially on BOGO!

Pompeian Exra Virgin Olive Oil BOGO $11.99 - this is a bargain IF and only IF you use alot of the product otherwise you'll be left with something rancid on your shelves.  I tend to by small and frequent bottles of oil but if you're a Mediterranean type then take advantage, its a great deal!

Kashi Granola Bars BOGO $3.99 - As granola bars go these are head & shoulders above, especially the nut varieties, give 'em a try.

Feast of Little Donuts...

OK so actually it was the Feast of Little Italy at Abacoa Town Center.  This is the 6th year of the festival which is on until tomorrow and my 4th year of visiting.  I know that because the first year I went my oldest daughter was only 2 weeks old.  Easy to mistake her for a generous zeppoli.

It was suggested to me that I do a 'Pick of the Day' which is a great idea, which I'll be tying in with the Pick of the Week roundup of shopping bargains.  Most of us do a large shop each week and, if you're like me, you'll be running in and out of stores for odds and ends most days too.  So from now on I'll feature a 'Pick of the Day' bargain or recipe so long as there is edible inspiration!

The bigwigs at Winn Dixie must be reading my site.  Witchy, halloween co-incidence it maybe but they're putting both butternut squash and center cut boneless pork chops on sale from tomorrow, Wednesday 8th October for a week.  What luck! The chops are BOGO at $5.39 for 2lbs and the squash is $0.79lb which is a fantastic deal.  Butternut squash soup & chops on the menu this week at a knockdown price!
